Steak frites



Steak Frites is a classic French dish that consists of a grilled steak and crispy french fries. It is a simple and delicious meal that is popular in French brasseries and restaurants.

Ingredients:

For the steak:

  • 2 beef steaks (ribeye or sirloin)
  • Salt and black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons butter

For the fries:

  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and cut into thin strips
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°F (95°C).
  2. To make the fries, rinse the cut potatoes under cold water to remove any excess starch. Pat dry with paper towels.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Fry the potatoes in small batches until they are crispy and golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Remove the fries from the oil and drain on a paper towel-lined plate. Sprinkle with salt while still hot.
  6. Keep the fries warm in the oven while you cook the steak.
  7. To cook the steak, season both sides of the steaks with salt and black pepper.
  8. Heat a large skillet over high heat. Add the butter and let it melt.
  9. Add the steaks to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer for desired doneness.
  10. Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest for a few minutes.
  11. Serve the steak with the hot fries and any additional sides of your choice.
