Spaghetti



Spaghetti is a classic Italian pasta dish that is loved around the world for its simplicity and deliciousness. Here is a simple recipe for making spaghetti at home:
Ingredients:

  • 1 pound spaghetti
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves, chopped (optional)
  • Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving

Instructions:

  1. Cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions until it is al dente. Drain the pasta and reserve 1 cup of the pasta water.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  3. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using) to the skillet and cook for 1-2 minutes, or until the garlic is fragrant.
  4. Add the crushed tomatoes to the skillet and stir to combine.
  5. Season the tomato sauce with salt and black pepper to taste.
  6. Simmer the tomato sauce for 10-15 minutes, or until it has thickened slightly.
  7. Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet and toss with the tomato sauce to coat.
  8. If the pasta seems dry, add some of the reserved pasta water to the skillet to loosen the sauce.
  9. Serve the spaghetti hot, topped with chopped basil leaves (if using) and grated Parmesan cheese.

Optional additions:

  • Add some cooked meat, such as ground beef or sausage, to the sauce for added protein and flavor
  • Use different types of pasta, such as linguine or fettuccine, for a different texture
  • Top with breadcrumbs or toasted pine nuts for added crunch
