Caramel popcorn

Caramel popcorn is a classic snack that is perfect for movie nights, parties, or any time you want a sweet treat. Here’s a simple recipe to make caramel popcorn at home:

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup popcorn kernels
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup corn syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 250°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large pot, heat the popcorn kernels over medium heat, shaking the pot occasionally, until the kernels begin to pop. Continue to cook until the popping slows down, then remove the pot from the heat and set aside.
  3. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar, corn syrup, and salt, and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture comes to a boil.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the baking soda and vanilla extract. The mixture will foam up and become lighter in color.
  5. Pour the caramel mixture over the popcorn and stir gently to coat the popcorn evenly.
  6. Spread the popcorn out on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer.
  7. Bake the popcorn for 45-60 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes, until the caramel is crispy and the popcorn is evenly coated.
  8. Remove the popcorn from the oven and allow it to cool completely before serving.

Enjoy your delicious and crunchy caramel popcorn as a sweet snack any time of the day!
