Chili

Chili is a classic comfort food that is perfect for cooler weather or any time you want a hearty and filling meal. Here is a simple recipe for making chili at home:
Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 can (14 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (14 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Shredded cheddar cheese, chopped green onions, and sour cream, for serving

Instructions:

  1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned and cooked through.
  2. Add the onion, garlic, and bell peppers to the pot and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until they are softened.
  3. Add the diced tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, chili powder, and cumin to the pot. Stir well to combine.
  4. Season the chili with salt and black pepper to taste.
  5. Bring the chili to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 20-30 minutes, or until the flavors are well combined.
  6. Serve the chili hot, topped with shredded cheddar cheese, chopped green onions, and a dollop of sour cream.

Optional additions:

  • Add some diced jalapeno peppers or hot sauce for a spicier chili
  • Use ground turkey or chicken instead of beef for a lighter version of chili
  • Serve the chili over cooked rice or with cornbread for a more filling meal

Enjoy your delicious homemade chili!
