Aloo gobi

Aloo Gobi is a popular vegetarian Indian dish made with potatoes (aloo) and cauliflower (gobi). It is a simple yet flavorful dish that can be enjoyed with rice, roti or naan. Here’s a recipe to make it at home:

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium-sized cauliflower, cut into florets
  • 2 medium-sized potatoes, peeled and cut into cubes
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 medium-sized onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Chopped cilantro for garnishing

Instructions:

  1. Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Once hot, add the cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds.
  2. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until it turns translucent.
  3. Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute until the raw smell goes away.
  4. Add the cubed potatoes and cauliflower florets, and mix well.
  5. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix everything well.
  6. Cover the pan with a lid and cook on medium-low heat for 15-20 minutes or until the vegetables are cooked and tender, stirring occasionally.
  7. Once the vegetables are cooked, add the garam masala powder and mix well.
  8. Turn off the heat and garnish with chopped cilantro leaves.
  9. Serve hot with rice, roti, or naan.
