Fried Rice



Fried rice is a delicious and versatile dish that can be made with a variety of ingredients. Here’s a simple recipe to make classic fried rice at home:

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups cooked rice (preferably cold, leftover rice)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables (such as diced carrots, peas, and corn)
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped scallions and sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the vegetable oil and swirl it around to coat the pan evenly.
  2. Add the minced garlic and chopped onion to the pan and stir-fry for about 1-2 minutes until they become fragrant and lightly golden.
  3. Add the mixed vegetables to the pan and stir-fry for an additional 2-3 minutes until they are slightly softened.
  4. Push the vegetables to one side of the pan and pour the beaten eggs into the other side. Allow the eggs to cook for a few seconds until they start to set, then scramble them using a spatula.
  5. Once the eggs are cooked, add the cooked rice to the pan. Break up any clumps of rice with a spatula and stir-fry everything together for about 2-3 minutes until the rice is heated through and well combined with the vegetables and eggs.
  6. Drizzle the soy sauce and oyster sauce (if using) over the rice and continue to stir-fry for another minute to evenly distribute the sauces. Taste the fried rice and season with salt and pepper according to your preference.
  7. Remove the pan from heat and garnish the fried rice with chopped scallions and sesame seeds, if desired.
  8. Serve the fried rice hot as a main course or as a side dish alongside your favorite Asian-inspired dishes.
